It was the time for high-vis vests and ear plugs as the two Sarahs and JP headed over to the British Ceramic Tile factory for a tour of the new plant.

Although reopened some years ago, with the new brochures looming, we thought it apt for a refresher course and to show newbie DNA designer Sarah what happens behind those closed doors. The £40m expansion was certainly impressive and our guided tour from raw materials to a gorgeous product from the latest Laura Ashley range was fascinating ? with automated robotic flatbeds zipping about the shop floor delivering tiles, giant silos that look like they belong in a science museum, state-of-the-art biscuit (not that kind!) conveyor networks and 1000°C kilns. The new plant has been modelled to accommodate new machinery in line with its plans to grow, to meet a target output of 30,000sqm tiles a day.

After months of hard work and anticipation the brand new Princess Yachts brochure suite has been launched! The change in size and orientation allows the dynamic imagery to really make an impact, while the two main boat ranges, Flybridge and V Class, now feature separate identities for the first time from cover designs, through to the stock, finish and overall design and layout. Printed in eight languages, these brochures will be seen all over the world starting at the 2019 Southampton Boat Show.

These Princess Yachts brochures weren?t the only ones completed and released; the new British Ceramic Tile product brochures were also hot off the press in September. Three brochures in total, each one specifically designed for the different target audiences within the retail and trade industries. The new A4 format really shows off the stunning room set imagery which was also commissioned as part of an extensive new product launch.

When appointed by British Ceramic Tile as their chosen design agency, we were delighted to get stuck into our first project which consisted of designing and print managing their new retail brochures. The brochures were introduced to highlight the new tile ranges, brought to the market to offer the consumer a wide variety of styles to suit a range of interior looks and tastes, whatever the budget.

The design and layout of the brochures is consistent with the new corporate branding, and each introduce one of the 7 new ranges; Whites and colours, Rustic, Textures, Dartmoor Naturals, Urban and Elgin. These ranges work within British Ceramic Tile?s 4 collections; Essentials, Living, Inspirations and Designer. For each collection we created individual sub brand colours and logos to differentiate the hierarchy of the products.

We are currently working on the Designer collection, which consists of the Conran and Laura Ashley ranges so watch this space!
